This 14th century church, built in the northern gothic style, is one of the most beautiful brick built churches of this period. Looking at the Lüneburg skyline, you can easily distinguish St. Johannis by it´s slightly tilted tower, wich differs from the norm by 2,20. As a young man, Johann Sebastian Bach did play on St. Johannis' magnificent organ, this together with the splendid church interior, may mark St. Johannis as the most significant church in Lüneburg.
