A small silver salmonid gave the waterfront of Lüneburg it´s name: the Stint. Numerous merchants used to sell the fish on the steps leading down to the river Ilmenau. A must see is the Old Crane at the Stintmarket, wich was used to lift heavy cargo out of the ships, coming into the harbour. During the day it´s time to admire the beautiful gables and facades of the old houses, when night falls - it´s time to party. A visit to the local pubs can also be combined with a sightseeing opportunity - many of the restaurants and pubs are situated in old cellar-vaults.
